The following general sites with numerous quizzes, games, etc and are applicable for all FAESL levels.
  •  Activities for ESL Students - This site is loaded with exercises, games puzzles, etc. for all levels. The wealth of material in this site is sufficient to keep a class busy for all their On-Line sessions in the computer lab.
  •  ESL Party Land - These student pages have over 75 interactive quizzes, 15 discussion forums, interactive lessons on a variety of topics, a chat room, and lots of great links.  An excellent site!!!
  •  EFL Net  - This site has hundreds of exercises for all levels covering grammar, vocabulary and phrasal verbs.
  •  Dave's ESL Cafe - This website has many exercises and lots of information. Start with "student stuff" located at the top of the page.
  •  Free English Study - This web-site has many interesting virtual and written exercises
  • www.bogglesworldesl.com   ESL activities for Adults
  •  www.mcedservices.com/phonics/phonics.html   stories using specific letter sounds and activities that match. Listen to the stories as they are read to you.
  • www.reepworld.org Click on the volunteers tab, then click on resources. There are lesson plans with handouts for many of the important topics we try to teach.

The following sites are most applicable to levels 1-2.


The following sites have targeted vocabulary and grammar lessons grouped by different skill levels.

  •  Interactive Vocabulary Quizzes grouped by EASY (Levels 1-3), Medium (Levels 3- 5) Difficult (levels 5-7)

    Medium ( Levels 3-5), Difficult (Levels 5-7)
  •  Many Things - Interactive grammar quizzes targeted to levels 3-4.  There are many additional links at this site to additional quizzes.

The following links apply to all levels and contain miscellaneous on-line activities. 


The following  two links are audio enabled.

  •  Many Things - This site in addition to many grammar and vocabulary quizzes at all levels has AUDIO EXERCISES which are excellent for HOME PRACTICE at all levels.
  •  The Learning Edge - This site has some excellent exercises with audio. 

These links provide access to additional useful English language aids, local and  Boston Public Libraries and many things to do and visit in and around Massachusetts.

  •  The Metro West Minuteman Library Network
    NOTE: You can reserve free museum passes to many Boston and Metrowest museums at the library. You must reserve in advance and in person, using your library card.
  •  Boston Public Library (BPL)
    The first publicly supported municipal library in the US, it is located in Copley Square, on the Green Line, in Back Bay, Boston. You can speak to a reference librarian over the phone for free. BPL hosts exhibits, speakers, activities, etc. If you get a BPL card, you gain access to more resources online. Library cards are free, but you must go in person to get one.

 Pick Your Own Apples… (FAESL is not endorsing any of these in particular) Local orchards often have other family friendly activities during apple picking season, such as hay rides, tasty apple desserts for sale, etc.
